Julian Junior Marvin’s Wailers will headline Libation as part of their “Message of Love” tour channeling the music and message of Reggae legend Bob Marley with whom guitarist, Julian Junior Marvin played from 1977 until his passing on May 11, 1981. Another exciting ensemble set to take the stage is Woza Masekela, comprised of former band members who played with the “father of South African Jazz,” Hugh Masekela, until his transition in January, 2018. They will perform a set in the “Spirit of Hugh Masekela.” The dynamic and in demand, IET Band, known for their incredible performances will delight the audience with selections from Jazz, Afro- Cuban, Zouk, Kompa, Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae and Funk. In addition, the celebration will feature the award-winning Pan Evolution Steel Band Orchestra and Brooklyn’s own, DJ Hard Hittin’ Harry.
IAAFestival Libation 2019 will pay tribute to the 50th Anniversary of The Founding of the EAST organization, on Sunday, June 2, from 2pm – 8pm at RESTORATION PLAZA AMPHITHEATRE (Tent) 1368 FULTON Street,Brooklyn, NY 11216.
Each year, the Festival selects a cultural theme from an African ethnic group. This year’s theme, YA TOND LA TAABA (We are all as one) is from the Mossi Nation of Burkina Faso.
This year, there will be a “Special Friends of Festival” (SFF/VIP) tent for those who contribute $100 or more to the continued growth of IAAFestival. “Special Friends of Festival” will receive:
- expedited entry
- preferred seating
- gift bag with lots of goodies
For those who purchase SFF/VIP tickets in May they will receive a FREE General Admission Pass or VIP upgrade for Libation.
